I am a PhD student working on the impact of the axon initial segment geometry on excitability. I am interested in understanding how the axon initial segment geometry influences the generation of the action potential and its transmission to the soma. To address this question I am using biophysical theory, modelling tools (Brian2) and patch-clamp experiments on cultured neurons with controlled geometry.
